Butter LONDON Black Knight Nail Polish Review

Being a nail polish hoarder ,  you probably wouldn't believe me that I haven't used a Butter London polish ever ? Shocking I know , so when I recently got butterLONDON Black Knight to try out and review I was pretty pumped !!!

About Butter LONDON
butter LONDON has developed a passionate following among Fashionistas. We are the cult phenomenon of the nail industry and are famous for our high fashion, heavily pigmented, ‘3 Free’ (non-toxic) nail lacquers and revolutionary waterless nail services. Each product is formulated without the use of the harmful ingredients like Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP or Parabens. butter LONDON was the first company to sell non-toxic nail lacquer in the United States.

What is it (Butter London Black Knight)
It's a black base with tiny multicolor glitter. The dominant colors in the mix are bright aqua blue, pink ,gold, and from what I can tell, a little silver flex also.

Application/ Consistency -It is a very sheer/streaky and a bit patchy nail lacquer it wasn't self leveling either however I needed 3-4 thick coats o even it out and get it opaque, but it was gooey/gloppy after all the coat were applied.

Finishing- The polish does dry pretty smooth but has a dull finish , it is a slightly rough finish from the glitter but nothing overly rough or gritty. I do think top coat is a must but also a matte finish would be awesome too .

Brush-The brush was long, slightly fluffier at the end, but still nicely shaped and made application pretty easy.

Price /Packaging/ Where To Find- I gotta admit the price is a extreme , butter LONDON nail polish retails for $14.00 USD for 4 fl oz, butter LONDON can be found at must ULTA beauty store/ Select Nordstorms and of course Butterlondon .com. I really enjoy the packaging , it is a rectangle type bottle with a rectangle top that come off to expose the actually nail polish brush ( clever I think ) make the bottle look a little more put together , each bottle has the butterLONDON label and a label on the bottom stating the name of the polish and the ingredients , also each bottle does state that it is 3FREE item , what does that mean , it means that there are  ( NO  Formaladehyde , NO Toluene No DBP and also paraben free as well ) they also state that they DO NOT test on animals either !!

Dupes- Pure Ice Private Show

Dupes !

Overall Thoughts- I wasnt impressed with butterLONDON nail polish unfortunately, I thought they would have been alot better , but then again maybe it just the glitter nail polishes that are this way or maybe I just got a bad bottle who know , I felt that these polish are very over priced for the quality of the polish I received and that there are other drugstore nail polish that are better for a fraction of the price. I didn't like how the formula was gooey/gloopy and I dont like the fact that you need almost 5 coat to get it to be opaque. On another note I do think this polish work best if you paint your nails a base color like black and then layer butterLONDON Black Knight over it just so you dont need to apply so many coats of polish , also this would be best for an accent nail. However I do plan on buying a solid color verse glitter to see if the texture/formula is any different .

**These products were sent to me by butterLONDON for review, I did not purchase these myself.  However, this is my own opinion and experiences with the products.**

  1. Hmmm. So far I have tried to stay away from BL due to the price. They do have some gorgeous colors though :)

  2. Tami , I agree i never would have bought a BL polish because of the price , This polish looked awesome in the bottle and I thought being a higher end polish it would have been great quality but the gooey formula is what made me not like it, I actually have a pure ice dupe that is only 1.99 and it work tons better and it the same polish

I still plan to try the solid color verse the glitters, maybe ill have better luck cause they really have nice colors ...
